The Nicene Creed

(also known as the Apostles' Creed or the Nicene-Constantinopolitan Creed)

1. I believe in one God, the Father almighty,
Maker of Heaven and earth,
and of all things visible and invisible;

2. And in one Lord Jesus Christ,
the Only-Begotten Son of God,
begotten of the Father before all ages;
Light of Light, true God of true God,
begotten, not made,
of one essence with the Father
by Whom all things were made;

3. Who for us men and for our salvation
came down from the heavens
and was incarnated by the Holy Spirit
and of the Virgin Mary and became Man;

4. Crucified for us under Pontius Pilate,
He suffered and was buried;

5. Rising on the third day
according to the Scriptures;

6. And ascending into the Heavens,
He is seated at the right hand of the Father;

7. And coming again with glory
to judge the living and the dead,
His Kingdom shall have no end;

8. And in the Holy Spirit, the Lord,
the Giver of life, Who proceeds from the Father,
Who together with the Father and the Son
is worshipped and glorified,
Who spoke by the prophets;

9. In one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church;

10. I accept one Baptism for the remission of sins;

11. I look for the resurrection of the dead;

12. And the life of the Age to come. Amen.
