Evolution is.....Effectively Impossible
by David Anderson
Here is the article I promised to send you. It was in the Ottawa Daily Times in 2002. I also would maybe add a very wise statement made by Solomon in his book the Wisdom of Solomon. It is probably one of the best, concise statements about the state of man's thinking when he does not recognize God as the Maker of all things. I still get goosebumps & excited when I read it, because of the perfect logic and reasonableness of his words. The funny thing is that these words applied to mankind during Solomon's time as well as our time, even though modern man has learned so much more from a scientific standpoint. Modern man is still not any better off if he chooses to ignore the Creator based on his so-called knowledge and science. It comes from Wisdom 13:1-9:
"For all men who were ignorant of God were foolish by nature; and they were unable from the good things that are seen to know him who exists, nor did they recognize the craftsman while paying heed to his works; but they supposed that either fire or wind or swift air, or the circle of the stars, or turbulent water, or the luminaries of heaven were the gods that rule the world. If through delight in the beauty of these things men assumed them to be gods, let them know how much better than these is their Lord, for the Author of beauty created them. And if men were amazed at their power and working, let them perceive from them how much more powerful is He who formed them. For from the greatness and beauty of created things comes a corresponding perception of their Creator. Yet these men are little to be blamed, for perhaps they go astray while seeking God and desiring to find Him. For as they live among His works they keep searching, and they trust in what they see, because the things that are seen are beautiful. Yet again, not even they are to be excused; for if they had the power to know so much that they could investigate the world, how did they fail to find sooner the Lord of these things?"
Hope you enjoy this and it is what you were looking for. If you need something different from this let me know. Thanks, David.
VOICE OF THE PEOPLE "Evolution ... is ... effectively impossible"
To the Editor:
Many people have been misinformed about the so-called evidence for evolution. They uncritically assume things to be so, based on what their teachers tell them and what all the major biology textbooks from grade school to college level, PBS, National Geographic, and Discovery T.V. programs say.
This is unfortunate because mainstream scientists have transmitted this myth for so long many people believe evolution to be a fact. However, when one studies the matter more deeply, we find many problems cannot be reconciled with the evidence.
The modern Darwinian concept of evolution says life arose from non-life and God has nothing to do with the process. Many scientists say if certain life-forms had not evolved, then we may never have come into existence. We can't fit the Biblical world view into this position because by definition evolution rules out God.
Everything in the universe evolved through non-directed, materialistic processes. Every prominent evolutionist will tell you this.
The biggest problem with evolution is the misrepresentation of what is presented as fact and what is pure assumption. At least three major problems exist with the macro-evolutionary theory of origins.
The first problem is: How did the laws of physics and chemistry evolve? How can a law evolve? It is either there to begin with or it is not. A physical law cannot evolve in a step-by-step Darwinian fashion and be functional at the same time. There needs to be a lawgiver.
The second problem is: how did life arise from non-life? There are NO satisfactory answers. NO ONE knows! Scientists only have vague ideas and wishful speculations. But there are no compelling ways for how this happened, just fanciful stories or possibilities. Evolution cannot account for the origin of the first life nor provide the clear mechanism that caused the first life.
If we do not know how these two things happened by naturalistic processes, how do we know they happened at all? Evolution can't even get started, yet it is claimed as fact.
The third problem is: Because microevolution (small changes within specific types of lifeforms, such as beak sizes of birds) can be observed in nature, then macroevolution (one life-form transforming into a totally different lifeform, such as an ape changing to man) must have occurred.
This is simply an erroneous assumption. There is no evidence for one lifeform transforming into a totally different one. All lifeforms appear abruptly in the fossil record, with no transitional forms to bridge the gaps between the next so-called transitional form in the stage of evolution. Life forms have limits to the amount of physical change to their genetic structure. Many similarities exist in all life forms, which evolutionists portray as proof of the theory. However, there are also major differences presenting huge problems for evolutionists to explain. These similarities can provide strong support for a common design in the mind of an intelligent designer in order for life to function.
The evidence clearly shows evolution in a step-by-step Darwinian fashion is not only highly improbable but effectively impossible. This has been demonstrated by prominent biochemist Michael Behe, who examined the data and found Darwinian evolution demonstrably false.
Behe's main point of an irreducibly complex biochemical structure "is one that needs several well-matched parts, all working together, to perform its function". If one of the parts is removed, the structure ceases to function properly. Therefore, irreducibly complex structures cannot be produced by slight, successive improvements as the theory of gradual evolution requires.
Darwin also affirmed this, stating, "If it could be demonstrated that any complex organ existed which could not possibly have been formed by numerous, successive, slight modifications, my theory would absolutely break down."
Behe demonstrates irreducible complexity with several examples from a biochemical perspective, including a bacterial flagellum, the blood clotting mechanism, and the many complex structures within a single cell. These complex and beautifully designed structures are best explained as the products of purposeful, intelligent design.
For those of you who still are not convinced, I challenge you to read just a few reliable critiques of evolution by W.R. Bird ("The Origins of Species Revisited"), Michael Behe ("Darwin's Black Box") and Michael Denton ("Evolution: A Theory in Crisis").
What we can be sure of about this universe and life in particular, is there is clearly evidence all around us of intelligent design. If there is intelligent design, then there has to be someone providing this intelligence. I propose it is the God of the Bible.
